The MAT Academy fosters our innate desire to express ourselves creatively while developing an original perspective on the world. Through projects and inter disciplinary units, students are challeged to think critically, collabortate, and communicate using a variety of media, arts, and technology. MAT studetns develop a profound understanding of how design can impact the functionality and beauty of the world.
MAT Academy offers many supplemental learning opportunities including imovie filming and video editing in our future media lab; coding with Java Script, Python, and SCRATCH; real world stock market simulation games competing against other schools; website development with html, css, wix.com, and Google Sites; Photoshop projects; Microsoft Office Suite; touch typing; Yearbook Class and Reed Review Student News.
Our dayfield trips include the Museum of Tolerance, Huntington Gardens, Los Angeles Times, California Science Center, Getty Villa, Autry Museum, and L. A. Film School. Overnight trip destinations include the Santa Monica Mountains (6th grade), San Francisco (7th grade), Yosemite and Washington D. C. (8th grade).
