The Humanities Academy is designed for the student who is creative, curious, and thinks outside of the box. Students are project-oriented, self-motivated, and enjoy working cooperatively with others. The academic curriculum is infused with art, culture, and creative expression. Cross-grade-level curricular collaboration includes creative writing, Battle of the Books, campus art displays, the annual Talent Show, music classes, the Medieval Faire, mathematical journal writing, and scale drawings in art.
The Humanities Academy goes on several field trips including but not limited to the Getty Center and Getty Villa, LACMA, Skirball, and three days at Pali Institute Camp in Running Springs. Not only do we go on these exciting excursions but we bring in interesting visitors and experiences to our classrooms as well. We have a Drum Circle, the Shakespeare Independent Company, an outside poet for a two day workshop, a JPL guest speaker and even a pig’s heart for dissection!
Information regarding the enrollment/permit process can be found on the Smaller Learning Communities webpage.
