      SLC Placement Request Sheet
We will start collecting the SLC Placement Request sheets on Monday, January 13, 2020 beginning at 7:00 A.M. in the Auditorium.
After 9:00 A.M. on Monday, January 13th through February 7, 2020, please submit your SLC Placement Request sheet to the Attendance Office. This is phase one for submitting the sheet.
**Very IMPORTANT, this first phase is just for students who Walter Reed Middle School is their school of residence. If Walter Reed Middle School is not your school of residence, parent must obtain a district permit first before submitting the SLC Placement Request sheet. The SAS/eChoices permit can be found on the eChoices website at http://echoices.lausd.net/.
All other permits must be obtained through Mr. Segura beginning in February.

      Student Safety

Walter Reed Middle School and the LA City Bureau of Contract Administration are working together to keep out students safe when commuting to school and home.
Our objective is to make the student’s daily commute and safe and simple as possible. That being said, after some discussion with the Metro Sound Wall Construction Management and the Contractor (Powell), our consensus is that it would be best to simply instruct all students to walk north on Colfax to Riverside, followed by eastward to Tujunga….. instead of the currently closed route of: east on Sarah, north on Tujunga to Riverside.
Both routes take the students to the South-west corner of Tujunga/Riverside, but the alternate route mentioned above keeps the students safe and out of a live traffic lane. This safer alternate route is merely a few hundred feet further than the original route. We ask that all student and adults follow this route.
      Thank you

      Important Update

Good morning parents, this is Mr. Ortiz, your principal at Walter Reed High School, with a major update on gas leakage. District workers are working to repair our gas leak, the gas supply is cut to our school while they make repairs to the pipe. All students and staff are safe, and they are kept away from the area with great caution. We are working with our neighborhood school to provide our students with a hot meal option for brunch. The instruction will not be affected and the students leave today at 12:37 pm. We appreciate your patience and cooperation to face this inconvenience. I will continue to provide updates as they become available. If you have any questions, call me at 818-487-7600. Thank you.

      Friendly SLC reminder:

SLC Placement Request Forms will be accepted for drop off in the Auditorium on Monday, Jan. 13 from 7:00 – 9:00 am.  A phase two drop off date will be forthcoming.
